Lesedi Local Municipality warns of critically low water intake pressure

Reservoirs levels across Heidelberg, Rensburg and Emmasdal remain low after reduced intake from Rand Water, with high lying areas expected to experience supply disruptions.

Residents in Heidelberg are urged to use water sparingly as Lesedi Local Municipality has confirmed critically low intake pressure affecting supply across several areas.

According to the municipality’s water status update issued on February 20, the system is currently receiving an intake pressure of 150kPa from Rand Water.

Reservoir levels at Heidelberg Command, Rensburg and Emmasdal are sitting at approximately 20%. The municipality warned that the low intake pressure is impacting water supply, particularly in higher-lying areas.

Assistance has been requested to stabilise the system, and residents are advised to limit water usage to essential needs while efforts continue to restore a stable supply.

The municipality apologised for the inconvenience and encouraged residents to contact the call centre for assistance or enquiries.
