Three arrested, goods recovered

The Nigel SAPS, in partnership with other entities, had a successful day for arrests on October 13.

Members of the Nigel SAPS partnered with private entities and arrested two suspects in possession of ammunition on October 13.

Through interrogation, the SAPS established that the ammunition came from an earlier house burglary in which criminals stole six firearms, ammunition and household goods.

Nigel detectives interviewed the suspects, which led them to a house where they recovered many household items, jewellery and one of the stolen firearms. The recovered items were circulated in community groups, and two victims pointed out their property.

Another suspect fled the scene, so the Nigel SAPS were unable to detain the suspect.

The Nigel SAPS said they have the suspect’s identification, and the suspect will soon be apprehended.

“Three cases can be linked, thanks to the recovered and identified items,” said the communication officer of the Nigel SAPS, Warrant Officer Neliswa Dwaba.

“We hope more victims come forward.”

In a separate incident on the same day, a suspect was detained after a security member pounced on him while stealing the tyres and batteries of a truck.

“I thank the community, security and my team at the Nigel SAPS for a job well done,” Dwaba said.

“I believe if we work together as a team, we can win the battle against crime.

“I further encourage those who would like to make a difference to pay it forward in one way or another to get involved in the CPF and other sub-forums.

“Together, we can make Nigel great again.”
