Security guards nab a suspected cable thief

The man is suspected to have used a bread knife to steal cables and pipes.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on October 19 after security guards discovered him in the newly built Duduza municipal offices.

The guards nabbed him as they patrolled the building.

They handed the man over to the Duduza SAPS, who found copper cables and copper pipes in his possession.
Members of the Duduza SAPS also found a bread knife, pliers and a screwdriver in his possession, which he allegedly used to commit the crime.

The man was charged with theft, possession of stolen property and damage to property.

He was expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate Court on October 23.
