The Local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between February 10 to February 16.
The police shared these statistics to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1
• Military Base: Theft general, Jacob Street, February 12 at 12:20.
• Bergsig: Theft general, Tulpe Avenue, February 7 between 20:00 and 07:30.
• Bergsig: Theft general, Tulpe Avenue, February 8 between 18:00 and 10:00.
• Bergsig: Burglary residential, Begonia Street, February 14 at 06:20.
• Bergsig: Burglary residential, Gousblom Street, February 15 at 21:15.
• Spaarwater: Theft general, Spaarwater, February 11 at 11:00.
• Rietvallei: Theft general and damage to essential infrastructure, Glenroy, February 10 at 18:00.
• Rietvallei: Damage to essential infrastructure, Glenroy, February 10 at 23:45.
• Rietvallei: Theft general and damage to essential infrastructure, Glenroy, February 14 at 18:00.
• Blinkpoort: Stock theft, Blinkpoort, February 12 at 18:30.
Property Involved: Gate motor, laptop, cellphone, vehicle spares, cables, TV, microwave, jewellery, PlayStation, hard drive, and cows.

• Klipstapel: Theft general, Klipstapel, February 12 at 10:40.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft general, HF Verwoerd Street, February 12 at 12:20.
• Heidelberg CBD: Rape, Voortrekker Street, February 9 at 11:00.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft general, Voortrekker Street, February 2 at 07:30.
• Heidelberg CBD: Possession of presumed stolen property, Voortrekker Street, February 10 at 06:20.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft out of motor vehicle, Voortrekker Street, February 14 at 22:40.
• Heidelberg: Theft from a motor vehicle, Smit Street, February 15 at 03:40.
• Shalimar Ridge: Attempted murder, Kismet Street, February 14 at 19:45.
• Sedaven: Theft general, Sedaven, February 15 at 00:18.
Property Involved: Toyota Hilux, produce, cellphones, sound cable, solar panel with light, wheels, clothing, battery, tools, and cable.
Sector 3
• N3 South Freeway: Carjacking, N3 Freeway South, February 7 at 20:30.
• Lagerspoort: Theft general, Lagerspoort, February 11 at 13:30.
• R23 Balfour Road: Hijacking of a truck, R23 Balfour Road, February 14 at 12:45.
Property Involved: Ford Ranger LDV, gate motor, Hino truck with meat.
Heidelberg SAPS request community members to report all crimes in their areas.
Police can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported.
SAPS appeals to the community to be involved and help by reporting illegal or suspicious activities.
This will also allow police to focus on hotspot areas.
