Weekly crime stats report
The Heidelberg SAPS urge community members to report all crimes in their areas because they can only respond to crimes if people report them.
The local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between February 17 and 23.
The Heidelberg SAPS shared the stats to create community awareness about crime trends in the area.
• Sector 1 (Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, the Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, rural areas, Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve);
• Diepkloof – Robbery with a firearm and attempted murder. February 21 at 02:30.
• N3 North: Carjacking on February 22 at 19:45.
• Bergsig: General theft on Tolbos Street. February 21 at 23:00.
• Bergsig: General theft on Tulpe Avenue. February 23 at 02:45.
• General theft on Tulpe Avenue. February 22 at 21:00.
Property involved: Firearms, a cellphone, a gate motor and a Kia Picanto.
Sector 2 (Boschfintein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Shalimar Ridge: Robbery with a weapon other than a firearm on Limpopo Street. February 22 at 21:00.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Vehicle stolen on Marshall Street. February 21 at 10:55.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Business burglary on Albert Street. February 18 at 17:30.
• Heidelberg CBD: General theft on Jacob’s Street. February 16 at noon
• Heidelberg CBD: Vehicle stolen on Jordaan Street. February 22 at noon.
• Heidelberg Central: Attempted theft of a vehicle on Jacob Street. February 20 at 18:30.
• Heidelberg Central: Vehicle stolen on Unie Street. February 20 at 07:40.
• Heidelberg Central: Residential burglary on Louw Street. February 18 at 22:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Attempted theft from vehicle and general theft on Merz Street. February 19 at 10:30.
Property involved: A cellphone, money, tools, a car radio, a bicycle, an airtime vending machine, a Ford Bantam, a Toyota Corolla Cross, a Toyota Hilux, a VW Polo and a laptop.
Sector 3 (Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• Rensburg: Residential burglary on Vos Street. February 21 at 16:00.
• Steynskraal: General theft and damage of essential infrastructure. February 16 at 18:19.
Property involved: A TV, a computer and hard drive, a laptop and a cable.
