Weekly crime stats report
The SAPS urge the community to report illegal and suspicious activities.
Local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between March 3 to 9.
The stats have been shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1 (Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• Bergsig: Rape and common robbery, Gousblom Street, March 8 at 16:00.
• Bergsig: Theft general, Tulpe Avenue, March 8 at 21:30.
• Bergsig: Theft general, Tulpe Avenue, March 9 at 03:00.
Property involved: Cellphone, gate motor.
Sector 2 (Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Shalimar Ridge: Business robbery, attempted murder, theft of motor vehicle, Vaal Street, March 7 at 21:30.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Viljoen Street, March 08 at 10:15.
• Heidelberg CBD: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Voortrekker Street, March 9 at 09:00.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Business burglary, Marconi Street.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft of motor vehicle, Begeman Street, March 6 at 15:20.
• Heidelberg CBD: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Begeman Street, March 6 at 14:00.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft out of motor vehicle and attempted theft of motor vehicle, March 6 at 15:20.
• Boschhoek: Theft general, March 6 at 01:00.
• Heidelberg Ext 5: Residential burglary, Blyth Avenue, March 4 at 10:00.
• Heidelberg Ext 6:- Theft general, Meyer Street, March 3 at 07:00.
Property involved: TV, cellphone, bedding, card machine, Isuzu LDV, Suzuki sedan, Toyota Fortuner, laptop, money, tablet, Nissan NP200, cable, clothing, jewellery, solar light.
Sector 3 (Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• Rensburg: Theft general, Coen Labushagné Street, March 7 at 11:30.
• Rensburg: Attempted house robbery, Coen Labushagné Street, Match 06 at 14:00.
• Rensburg: Attempted residential burglary, DF Malan Street, March 6 at 03:40.
• N3 South Freeway: Truck hijacking and kidnapping, N3 South Freeway, March 4 at 19:00.
Property involved: Copper cable, water pipe, Mercedes Benz truck with two trailers.
The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crimes in their areas. They can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported. This will also allow the police to focus on hotspots.
