Local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between March 3 to 9.
The stats have been shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1 (Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve).
• Bergsig: Burglary residential, Tulpe Avenue, March 14 at 07:36.
• Rietvalei: Theft general, Rietvallei, March 9 at 00:01.
• N3 North Highway: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 north highway, March 07 at 18:00.
• R103 Alberton Road: Carjacking and kidnapping, R103 Alberton Road, March 12 at 20:30.
Property involved: Plasma TV, Sony system, microwave, kettle, mielies, Toyota RAV4, and Toyota Quantum.
Sector 2 (Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein).
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Burglary residential, Meyer Street, March 14 at 05:30.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft out of motor vehicle, Marais Street, March 14 at 18:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Theft out of motor vehicle, Jacobs Street, March 15 at 09:00.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft general, Strydom Street, March 16 at 11:15.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Theft of motor vehicle, Apsey Street, March 10 at 17:55.
• Heidelberg Ext 5: Burglary residential and theft from motor vehicle, Blythe Avenue, March 11 at 20:30.
Property involved: Sony sound bar, car radio, watch, purse, cellphone charger, laptop, camera, microphone, Volkswagen Polo, speakers, and an amplifier.
Sector 3 (Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal).
• N3 south highway: Carjacking and kidnapping, March 14 at 19:30.
• N3 south highway: Carjacking and kidnapping, March 13 at 19:05.
• N3 south highway: Theft out of motor vehicle, March 15 at 03:00.
• Rensburg – Theft general, Nel Street, March 12 at 08:00.
• N3 south highway – Hijacking of a truck and kidnapping, March 7 at 10:30.
Property involved: Toyota Hilux, Isuzu LDV, cellphones, jewellery, and an Isuzu truck.
Heidelberg SAPS is calling on community members to report all crimes that take place in their areas.
Police can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported.
This will also allow police to focus on hotspot areas.
