Heidelberg SAPS release weekly report
The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crimes in their areas.
The local SAPS released these statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between July 7 and 13. They share these stats to create community awareness about crime trends in the area.
Sector 1:
(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• N3 North: Carjacking and kidnapping on the N3 North. July 11 at 10:30
• Bergsig: Common assault: July 7 at 16:00.
Property involved: Toyota Hilux.
Sector 2:
(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• N3 South: Carjacking and kidnapping on July 10 at 18:25.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft of motor vehicle in Victorian Village. July 11 at 15:45.
• Heidelberg CBD: General theft. July 10, July 11 at 16:40, 18:20 and 02:50.
• Heidelberg Central: Fraud. July 11.
• Shalimar Ridge: Fraud.
Property involved: Toyota Hilux, Ford Everest, food, cash, cellphone, solar light.
Sector 3:
(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• N3 South: Carjacking and kidnapping. July 10 at 18:25.
• R23/ Balfour Road: Carjacking and assault GBH. July 11 at 18:20.
• Business robbery. July 11 at 18:30.
Property involved: Money, cellphone, Toyota Rush.
Successful arrests:
Contravening a protection order (one), theft (one), reckless and negligent driving (one), selling liquor without licence (one), shoplifting (two), assault GBH (two), possession of suspected stolen goods (one), possession of drugs (one), drunk driving (four), illegal immigrants (19) and common assault (one).
The Heidelberg SAPS asks community members to report criminal activity in their areas because they can respond to criminal activity only if they are reported. This will also allow police to focus on hotspot areas.
