SAPS releases latest Heidelberg crime statistics

SAPS urges residents to speak up against crime.

The local SAPS released these statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between August 11 and 17 to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1:

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)

• Koppieskraal: Murder. August 16. 09:25.

• Bergsig: House robbery on Krisant Avenue. August 17. 03:20.

• Bergsig: Theft of motor vehicle and general theft on Madeliefie Street. August 16.01:30.

• Spaarwater: Damage to essential infrastructure and general theft. Spaarwater. August 13. 05:00.

Property involved: TV, laptop, Mazda 2, keys, air fryer, copper cable.

Sector 2:

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)

• Shalimar Ridge: Robbery with firearm on Kismet Street. August 15. 20:00.

• Heidelberg Ext 5: Residential burglary on Graham Avenue. August 15. 06:00.

• Boschfontein: Murder and house Robbery on Vink Street. August 13. 20:30.

• Heidelberg Central: Theft of motor vehicle on Hospital Street. August 12. 06:20.

• Heidelberg CBD: House break-in with intent unknown on Strydom Street. August 11. 17:00.

Property involved: Cellphone, bank card, clothing, TV, money, bedding, Toyota Verso, Toyota Corolla.

Sector 3:

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)

• Rensburg: Business burglary on Zuid Street. August 16. 08:00.

• Rensburg: Theft out of motor vehicle on Bree Street. August 15. Noon.

• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping on N3 South. August 12. 17:00.

• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping on N3 South. August 14. 18:30.

• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping on N3 South. August 12. 19:30.

Property involved: Garden tools, solar lights, clothing, cellphones, money, Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max, Kia Picanto.
The Heidelberg SAPS urges residents to report all crimes in their areas because they can only respond to criminal activity once it is reported. It also helps them focus resources on hotspots.
