Heidelberg SAPS shares weekly crime statistics

Local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between September 1 to 7.

The stats have been shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1:

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)

• Bergsig: General theft, Vygie Street, September 4 at 21:00.

• National Road 1: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 North Freeway, September 3 at 18:40.

• National Road 1: Robbery with firearm, N3 North Freeway, September 3 at 17:30.

• Blinkpoort: Damage to essential infrastructure and theft general, Blinkpoort, September 3 at 15:30.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary, Gladiola Street, September 3 at 07:45.

• National Road 1: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 North Freeway, September 2 at 21:30.

Property involved: Gate motor, Isuzu LDV, cellphone, money, camera, cable, fridge, stove, TV, groceries, Audi.

Sector 2:

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)

• Heidelberg CBD: Common robbery, Merz Street, September 4 at 12:10.

• Heidelberg CBD: Theft of motor vehicle, Jordaan Street, September 3 at 09:03.

Property involved: Cellphone, bag, Toyota Fortuner.

Sector 3:

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)

• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 South Freeway, September 4 at 20:15.

• Rensburg: Theft out of motor vehicle, R23 Balfour Road, September 5 at 16:50.

• Rensburg: Damage to essential infrastructure and theft general, AG Visser Street, September 2 at 08:11.

• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 South Freeway, September 2 at 18:30.

Property involved: Kia K2700 LDV, cellphone, money, cable, Ford Ranger.

Arrests for the last week: Assault GBH: 1, common assault (domestic violence): 1, illegal immigrants: 9, theft from motor vehicle: 1, residential burglary:1, possession of drugs: 3, drunk driving: 24.

Heidelberg SAPS is calling on community members to report all crimes that take place in their areas.

Police can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported.

This will also allow police to focus on hotspot areas.
