The local SAPS released these statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between October 6 to 12.

They share these stats to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1:

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)

• Bergsig: Residential burglary. October 11 at 02:00. Daffodil Street.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary. October 11 at 15:00. Tulpe Street.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary. October 7 at 09:00. Gladiola Street.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary. October 7 at 22:37. Madeliefie Street.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary. October 11 at 23:00. Verbena Street.

• Jacobs Street: Theft from vehicle. October 8. Corner Jacobs and Groenfontein streets. Property involved:

Batteries, TV, bicycle, sound system, laptop, charger, kettle, clock.

Sector 2:

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD and Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)

• Simpiwe Village: Attempted murder and house robbery. October 8 at 23:30.

• Shalimar Ridge: House robbery. October 12 at 03:00. Wilger Street.

• Heidelberg Ext 6: Residential burglary. October 11 at 09:00. Marshall Street.

• Shalimar Ridge: Common assault. October 7 at 18:30. Zambezi Street.

• Heidelberg Industrial: Theft from vehicle. October 6 at 22:00. Sagar Street.

• Boschfontein: Theft. October 10. Vink Street.

• Heidelberg CBD: Theft. October 8 at 10:10. Corner Jacobs and Voortrekker streets.

• Heidelberg Ext 6: Theft. October 8 at 02:20. Bunsen Street. Property involved: Wheels, money, cellphones, radio, tools.

Sector 3:

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)

• National Road 3: Carjacking. October 6 at 19:00. Next to Ultra Liquor.

• National Road 3: Carjacking. October 7 at 19:15. Across airfield.

• Rensburg: Residential burglary. October 1010 at 22:00. Nel Street. Property involved: Bicycle, Ford double cab, Suzuki.

The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crimes in their areas because they can only respond when incidents are reported. It also helps them identify and focus on hotspots
