Meet your Ward 8 Candidate: Phumlani Mazibuko

Introducing Ward 8 EFF candidate, Phumlani Mazibuko.

Phumlani Mazibuko (40) is the EFF candidate for the Ward 8 by-election .

• What are your priorities for the ward?

I want to ensure that the residents of Ward 8 have access to stable water supply, eradicating the cutting of electricity to paying residents.

Assessment rates are uniform to all residents. Working street lights is a high priority. Fixing potholes in Rensburg and Heidelberg Indian Taxi Rank.

Parks in Rensburg and Shalimar Ridge are fully functional including recreational facilities. Establish a task team to work with the CPFs and SAPS on substance abuse. Safety of businesses and residents in Ward 8.

Ensuring meter readers do their work efficiently. Identify work opportunities for the youth.

Finally the EFF will build an Early Childhood Development Centre for the residents of Shalimar before the end of 2024.

• What are some of the challenges facing the ward?

The major challenges that we have identified is work creation, housing, drugs, service delivery, officials within the municipality not doing the work they are employed to do and not rest on their laurels. Safety and security for all residents is a priority.

• What traits do you possess to tackle the job efficiently?

I have been a leader in my community and at the helm of their struggle against inter alia unfair labour practices, crime and lack of service delivery. I believe with the backing of the residents I will be able to get the job done to the best of my ability.
