Balfour Combined School visits Sasol

Learners gain knowledge about the ins and outs of mining.

Balfour Combined School’s Grade 10 and 11 learners visited Sasol to learn more about mining on May 11.

The learners had a fun-filled and educational day. They were guided through an imitation mine and mine simulation activities with special effects of smoke thrown into the mix.

They learnt about the different minerals and various machinery used to extract minerals.

The visit had a telling effect on the learners.

“The excursion was not only informative but also an excellent opportunity for us to network and learn more about the different career paths available in the mining industry,” commented Balfour Grade 11 learner Zakiyyah Coovadia.

“We hope other learners will have the opportunity to visit Sasol in the future, as it is truly a unique and educational experience. Once again, thank you to Sasol for investing in our education, especially because today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders.”
