Local bodybuilder shines
Raymond Ntaopane added two more trophies to his collection.
Raymond Ntaopane (53), a bodybuilder from Heidelberg, recently won two more trophies.
Ntaopane competed in the Goldfields Development Show bodybuilding competition in Welkom on May 27 in the Masters over 50 categories and the middleweight under 80kg category.
He placed first in the Masters and second in the middleweight category.
“I thank everyone in the community who supported me,” Ntaopane said.
“From local businesses to the youngsters, thank you for your support and encouragement.”
Ntaopane, a bodybuilder since 1993 when he won his first trophy, encourages youngsters in the area to participate in sports.
Ntaopane said he always loved sports and played soccer, did karate, boxed and cycled while growing up.
“Sport, no matter what type, is an excellent way to develop skills, stay healthy and learn discipline,” Ntaopane said.
“Not only that, but it keeps them out of trouble and out of harm’s way, away from drugs and alcohol.”
Ntaopane’s next bodybuilding competition is in Welkom on August 26.
