Local gymnasts shine at competition
The 10 gymnasts will go on to compete at the Gauteng Championships this weekend.
Various gymnasts of the Nigel Gymnastics Club took part in the Ekurhuleni district competition in Pretoria on August 18 and 19.
“Our gymnasts performed very well and we are proud,” said coach Charlene Maritz.
Ten gymnasts received their Ekurhuleni colours and will compete at the Gauteng Championships this weekend (August 25 and August 26).
The gymnasts’ results for Level Four (various age groups) were as follows:
Clarize van Schalkwyk received one bronze medal.
Joanika du Plessis received one bronze, one silver and one gold medal, and placed third overall.
Vicky Badenhorst received one gold.
Ciara Visser received one bronze.
The gymnasts’ results for Level Five were as follows:
Alessia Bonaretti received two silver medals.
René Vogel received four gold and placed first overall.
The gymnasts’ results for Level Six were as follows:
Kaylee de Bruyne received three silver and one gold and placed second overall.
Alyssa Maritz received four gold and placed first overall.
