Boy drowns in Blesbokspruit

The child's body was recovered the next day.

A boy (8) fell into the Blesbokspruit in the Ratanda area on November 5.

AfriForum Heidelberg, Ekurhuleni SAPS divers, the NSRI and Heidelberg Volunteer Medics and First Responders were on the scene for assistance in locating the child.

They called off the search for the night when darkness fell. The next day, the search resumed, and they found the boy’s body in the Blesbokspruit.

In another incident also on November 5, a three-year-old boy was found at the bottom of a pool in Heidelberg.
The father and neighbour performed CPR until professional assistance arrived.

The child was airlifted to Netcare Alberton Hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
