Athletes selected to compete internationally

Khanya Lesedi athletes go for gold.

A team of athletes from the Khanya Lesedi School of Specialisation in Ratanda participated in the OR Tambo Games on October 28 and 29.

The games were at the University of Johannesburg athletics track.

Zandile Sibande qualified in the 200m hurdles.

Six of these athletes who represented the Sedibeng Athletics Federation were selected for an international event in 2024 in Italy.

Lindani Mlangeni qualified in the 1500m and 300m.

Zinhele Khubeke (100m/200m), Noloazi Shelembe (100m/200m), Nelly Khubeka (300m relay), Zandile Sibande (200m hurdles), Lerato Tsotetsi 100m/200m) and Lindani Mlangeni (1500m/3 000m) all qualified for the event.

Noloazi Shelembe qualified in the 100m and 200m.

Khanya Lesedi School of Spesialisation was the only school in the Heidelberg area to take part in the athletics event.

Nelly Khubekha qualified in the 300m Relay.

“I am proud of the athletes and the way they performed,” said Emmanual Nkabinde, coordinator at Khanya Lesidi SOS.

Zihle Khubeka qualified in the 100m and 200m.

“It makes us proud to see how well they are performing on the bigger stage.”

Lerato Tsotetsi qualified in the 100m and 200m.
