Cambridge FC suffers second defeat

The team lost the match 1-0 to the New Generation FC in Thembisa.

Cambridge FC faced New Generation in Thembisa on November 11.

“The first half of the match saw our boys pushing hard,” said Cambridge FC chairperson, Ignatius Maphike.

“But the New Generation team was backed by their home crowd and fought back. Playing short passes on a small pitch made it difficult for the Cambridge boys to adapt.”

The New Generation team scored their first goal of the match late into the first half. First half ended 1-0.

Due to heavy rain and lightning, the second half of the match was delayed.

“The Cambridge boys started the second half on the back foot and fought hard for an equalizing goal but failed to convert,” said Maphike.

“It’s our second defeat in a row this season, and it is not easy to play away, especially in Thembisa,” Maphike said.

“But our boys need to man up and take responsibility as the overall performance was poor to begin with. It’s back to the drawing board and we hope to bounce back in the next match.”
