Fire destroys car in Heidelberg

Community jumps in to help in times of need.

A fire which started at a house in Begeman Street, Heidelberg, on January 22 caused great damage.

A resident saw the smoke and called Lesedi Fire and Rescue, who quickly responded to the blaze.

Various other role players that assisted include the Heidelberg CPF, security companies, AfriForum, Lesedi Traffic Department and community members.

A Mercedes-Benz parked in a garage on the property was destroyed.

Community and role players were quick to assist in bringing the fire under control.

Other vehicles in the yard were not damaged.

A neighbour’s roof sustained some damage but the flames were swiftly brought under control by firefighters.
It is understood the car was a project car and that it was a work in progress.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established and investigations are being conducted to establish the cause.
