Event helps cyclists prep for year
Cyclists dusted off the cobwebs for the season ahead.

The Fast One Cycle Race, in which two cyclists from the Heidelberg/Nigel area participated, was held in Meyerton on January 28.
Participants could tackle the 50km or 103km distances. Various cyclists from all over SA entered to shake off the festive season’s cobwebs and to start getting in shape for the rest of the cycle races in the year.
The Heidelberg/Nigel cyclists who participated were Len Hartlett and Roberto Flavo.
Hartlett participated in the 40 to 49 age group, and Flavo in the 50 to 59 group.
Hartlett completed the 103km in 3:10:07, and Flavo in 3:10:12
The male winner of the 103km was Kent Main, with a time of 2:20:05, and the female winner was Beverly Wingfield in 2:37:17.
The winner of the 50km distance was Bongani Tshabalala, in a time of 1:24:19, and the ladies’ winner was Jennah Jacobs, with a time of 1:24:24
The Midvaal Fast One Cycle Challenge is an official premier seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
