Senior citizens show off their bowling skills
EKB Eastern Seniors gear up for regionals.
The Heidelberg Bowling Club hosted the Eastern Seniors Bowls tournament on February 2.
The league is for players 60 years and older in the Ekurhuleni area.
Eastern Seniors Bowls is part of EKB (Ekurhuleni Bowling). Twenty-one clubs form part of the Easterns league.
Easterns Seniors president Gary Viviers is happy with the turnout at the tournament, which saw 47 players participate on the day. Since Viviers took over the reins about two years ago, membership has doubled.
“The league matches are all part of getting ready for regionals that will take place during the season. The first regional tournament will be against Western Seniors Sables on March 21. We start with players from 60 years, and our oldest players are well into their 90s at the present,” said Viviers.
