APSDA initiative for 2024 launched

All sports clubs are encouraged to register during March.

The Alra Park Sports Development Association is planning a sports club registration drive initiative from March 1 to 31.

Deputy chairperson of APSDA, Andries Constable, commented that all aspects of the programme had been discussed during their monthly meeting that was held on February 26.

”In the programme, we will encourage local clubs to register at the Progressive Federations in Ekurhuleni Gauteng Provincial Government.

”There are discussions underway with newly formed clubs like netball and rugby to register and comply with the requirements of the respective federations and associations,” he said.

APSDA secretary general Joseph Mompane said they consulted the Department of Sports and Recreation and other federations to determine the correct procedures for procurement.

“We encourage sports people in our community to come forward so that we can help them to affiliate and let them play sport, compete and perform to achieve their goals,” said Mompane.

This year’s programme will start with an event that features local choirs at Mackenzieville Hall.

“Thereafter, we will host an old-school concert at the Alra Park Community Hall and a gala dinner in May.

“Our annual U17 soccer tournament will take place in June at the Mackenzieville Stadium,” said Constable.

He added that proceeds from the fundraising events will be used to assist clubs and their teams to pay affiliation fees as well as purchasing some much-needed equipment for clubs.

“We would also like to buy soccer boots for needy players in the area.”
