Heidelberg Hospital holds career expo

The career expo aimed to expose learners to various careers within the hospital.

“The future belongs to us.”

In a world of innovation and artificial intelligence, these were the words uttered by Banele Nkabinde during the career expo that unfolded at Heidelberg Hospital on July 5.

Banele, a Grade 12 learner from Khanya Lesedi Sports School of Specialisation, was responding to the career expo initiative, which was intended for secondary schools surrounding Heidelberg.

“I appreciate Heidelberg Hospital for hosting this career expo for us. This guides us to which careers to pursue when we reach university. We have learnt a lot today about different careers in the hospital. I can now proudly say the future belongs to us,” said Banele.

The career expo aimed to expose learners to various careers within the hospital setting. This demonstration aimed to equip scholars with valuable information directly from experts who are already working in the field.

From the perspective of Heidelberg Hospital’s logistics unit which houses laundry, cleaning, and transport, Nomonde Jobe relayed to scholars that being in the field of logistics does not limit one within the confines of being an employee only.

“We have taught learners about the functions of the logistics unit within the hospital and told them about the difference between a commercial laundry and our laundry. We have also encouraged them that in case things do not work out in finding employment, one can consider starting their logistics business, even from home,” said Jobe.
