Devon SAPS reach out to taxi owners

Obey the road signs and traffic rules.

The Devon SAPS held a community outreach with the local taxi community on July 17.

Some role players present were the Devon SAPS, Social Crime Prevention and communications co-ordinator Constable Yvone Shosana, the acting Devon station commander, Warrant Officer S’Bongile Ndlela, the acting Vispol commander, the Sector 1 commander, second-hand goods and liquor compliance officers, Crime Prevention Wardens, CPF members, local taxi owners and the Heidelberg Taxi Association.

The meeting was at the Devon SAPS court. The role players engaged the taxi owners by giving them guidelines and the paperwork needed to operate a taxi legally.

Furthermore, there was information about the correct stickers the taxis must have on their vehicles.

“Each taxi must comply with the rules and laws set out for each driver. Valid permits and driver’s licences must be up to date. The vehicles must be in good condition at all times. The road signs and traffic rules must be obeyed without exception,” said Ndlela.
