Body of missing elderly woman found in Obed Nkosi

The search for the 74-year-old Nomghlolo Maria Radebe reported missing on August 11, ended in tragedy when her body was discovered next to the Suikerbosrand River near Obed Nkosi.

According to a family member, Vusimuzi Mvundla, his aunt picked up his grandmother, Nomghlolo Radebe, from her home in Dabuka Street, Ratanda Ext 23 to visit his uncle in Ratanda Ext 26 for a traditional ceremony.

Later the aunt said she saw Nomghlolo leaving the ceremony, but she never returned to her own home.

The family searched for Radebe at all the relatives’ homes but could not find her.

Thereafter, they reported her as missing to Ratanda SAPS.

They searched the area thoroughly and contacted the local hospitals.

According to police, Nomghlolo’s body was found on August 12 at Obed Nkosi in an open veld, next to the Suikerbosrand River.

The body was transported to the Forensic Pathology offices in Heidelberg.

Her cause of death is not yet known. Anyone with information can contact the Ratanda Police Station on 016 343 7014.
