Heidelberg Bowling Club enjoys successful 2024

The Heidelberg Bowling Club held its annual prize-giving on August 31.

Kicking off the proceedings, Elmarie Eygelaar, president of the Heidelberg Bowls Club, welcomed the members and thanked them for their contributions during the year.

Victor and Victrix Ludorum John Drysdale and Eygelaar were introduced to the club members.

The Victor and Victrix Ludorum awards went to John Drysdale and Elmarie Eygelaar.

Men’s winner: Drysdale and runner-up: Mike van Nierop.

Ladies winner: Marietjie de Beer and runner-up: Eygelaar.

Veterans club champ:

Men‘s winner: Van Nierop and runner-up: Pieter Pieterse.

Ladies winner: Sanette Oberholzer and runner-up: Rosa Buys.

Handicap club champs:

Men’s winner: Drysdale and runner-up: Karl Strauss.

Ladies winner: Joanette van der Merwe and runner-up: Margaret Strauss.

Chosen pairs club champs:

Men winners: Van Nierop and Drysdale and runners up: Jaco van Niekerk and Gert Briel.

The champion of champions match was played between Drysdale and De Beer. The winner was Drysdale.

The drawn pairs mixed winners are Herman van der Merwe and Lalie Louw with Elmarie Eygelaar.

Heidelberg Club’s new team of selectors are: women: Margaret Strauss, Sanet Oberholzer, De Beer and men: Hansie Grobler, Mike van Nierop and Jaco van Niekerk.

The champion of champions match was played between John Drysdale and Marietjie de Beer. They are seen with Elmarie Eygelaar, president of the Heidelberg Bowling Club.

At the annual general meeting, the members elected for the 2024/25 management committee are: Elmarie Eygelaar was re-elected as president, with Herman van der Merwe as vice-president.

The veterans ladies winner is Sanette Oberholzer with Elmarie Eygelaar.

Other members are treasurer Johann Strauss, secretary Karl Strauss, competition secretary Werner Schipper, bar manager Tinus Jacobs, household manager Christelle Pringle, and additional members Graatjie Pringle and Buys.
