Caltex Filling Station and Heidelberg Taxi Association make difference in Ratanda schools

Caltex Filling Station Manager Ithumuleng Setati and Timmy Mnisi from the Heidelberg Taxi Association delivered their first donation of full uniform sets and school shoes on Friday January 31st at Ratanda Bertha Gxowa Primary School and on Monday February 3rd, another donation was made at Lethabo Siyanqoba Primary School.

In a display of community spirit, the Caltex Heidelberg Filling Station, in collaboration with the Heidelberg Taxi Association, made a significant impact on the lives of learners at schools in Ratanda.

The two entities donated school uniforms to the learners, ensuring every child can attend school with pride and dignity.

The realisation that many learners at schools in Ratanda were struggling to afford school uniforms sparked the initiative.

Recognising the importance of education and the role uniforms play in fostering a sense of belonging and equality, the Caltex Heidelberg Filling Station and the Heidelberg Taxi Association took action.

Principal Abraham Maseli at Bertha Gxowa Primary School said the school currently has 1 200 learners and some come from poor communities where parents are unemployed.

“We are grateful for the donations as our children take pride in wearing uniforms. Those wearing a school uniform for the first time will do so with the same pride as their co-learners,” he said.
