Cambridge FC travelled to Vosloorus for their Hollywood Bets Soccer League match against Kathorus Juventus on March 28.
The team from Nigel has been on a high after a few wins in the past couple of weeks. However, the club is attending disciplinary hearings because of incidents against the same opponents in the first round.
Cambridge dominated from the start whistle.
Within the first 10 minutes, Kathorus Juventus pounced on the ball, and Bridges’ goalkeeper, Sipho Karolo, made a mistake and let it slip past him for the first goal.
After the setback, Cambridge played with more authority and attacked the ball but could not find the equaliser.
In the second half, Cambridge created various chances to score but could not get the ball into the back of Juventus’ net, which defended for long periods and nearly succeeded.
Cambridge got the equaliser in the 80th minute when Lindelani Zulu lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper’s head to score.

Thereafter, the Bridges attacked whenever they had the opportunity but could not finish the moves. Some controversy reigned over the officials’ calls.
Cambridge could have scored the winning goal when they received a free kick within striking distance, but the ball hit the posts and bounced away.
There was no other play after that, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
“The players only have themselves to blame for the draw and not getting a win. They executed what was done on the training field but could not finish the moves,” said John Mourinho Mosia, the head coach of Cambridge FC.
“At least we will take a point home from the match. The players tried hard but just could not get the win. The guys are strong and will come out more determined next time,” said Ignatius Maphike, the Cambridge FC chairperson.
Cambridge FC’s next match is against the Samba Boys Football Club.
