Rensburg CPF is pro-active

Be alert and report criminal activities.

The Rensburg CPF and the Heidelberg SAPS hosted a meeting with residents and law enforcement on April 22.

The community met the new Heidelberg SAPS station commander, Colonel Makgora Paul Selota, and discussed safety and co-operation.

The new Sector 3 commander, Constable Mhhlori Walter Shivambu, also met the residents. Shivambu took over the reins from Constable Yolandi Daschner.

Jurie Oosthuizen, the Bersig CPF co-ordinator, shared strategies to help reduce crime.

• Crime prevention does not stop. It is an everyday occurrence;

• Create street communities with active WhatsApp groups;

• Do not put out refuse bags the night before collection. Criminals use that time to scout for vulnerable properties;

• More patrollers are needed. The more people involved, the stronger the crime prevention efforts;

Selota said residents must know their neighbours, understand routines and be alert.

The SAPS is still monitoring and processing the fingerprints of homeless people who might be linked to crime.
Report criminal activities to the SAPS to ensure they can follow up and stop criminal activities.
