Mixed results for Cambridge FC

With halftime closing in, both teams struggled to get the scoreboard from ticking over.

Cambridge Football Club experienced a busy weekend in the Hollywood Bets League, delivering mixed results across all fixtures.

The action kicked off on April 26, when the club’s senior team, Bridges, hosted Luso Africa from Primrose.

Cambridge won 1-0. The match took place at Duduza Stadium and marked the first of two crucial encounters for Bridges over the weekend.

There is a history between the two sides where no side wants to give in to the other in previous matches.

The match was played as a tactical affair where both teams wanted to take control without making mistakes.

With halftime closing in, both teams struggled to keep the scoreboard from ticking over.

In the 38th minute, a well-taken corner kick allowed Keletso Molebeli to strike for Cambridge to give them a 1-0 lead.

The second half was a half where both teams attacked the ball more but no team could get any ball into the back of the opposition’s net.

In Cambridge’s second match on April 28, their opposition was Tembisa Destroyers.

Tembisa won 3 – 0.

The match was played at Esselen Park Stadium. Cambridge was dealt a few blows with a few strikers out injured.
The match on Saturday took its toll and the energy of the Nigel team.

Tembisa was well-rested and ready to strike. They easily cut through Bridge’s defences and set up multiple scoring opportunities.

Tembisa was two goals ahead by halftime.

In the 80th minute, Tembisa put the last nail in Cambridge’s coffin by scoring their third goal.

“I am very disappointed that we did not come to play on Monday after our win on Saturday, but we will soldier on and do our best in our last six matches in the league,” said John Mosia, head coach.

“Looks like the football gods are not with us these last few weeks and with a congested weekend of fixtures and injuries. We were napping, but we will remain positive and keep trying,” said Ignatius Mosia, Cambridge club chairperson.
