Cambridge FC Reserves down Wolves 4-1 in MAFA Super League

Suspension will be fought in the boardroom, vows club chairperson.

The Cambridge Football Club’s reserve team delivered a commanding performance, earning a 4-1 victory over the Wolves FC in a MacKenzieville Alra Park (MAFA) Super League clash.

The match played out in Alra Park at the MacKenzieville Stadium.

It was an early morning match, and both teams had to adapt to the conditions.

The opening goal within the first 20 minutes came from a long-range strike that the Wolves’ goalkeeper misjudged, giving Cambridge a 1-0 lead.

The Bridges deployed a good combination between their forwards and backs to score their second goal just before halftime.

Head coach Seun Matloung kept motivating his players to stay on the attack and remain disciplined.

It seemed to have the desired effect when Bridges started with new vigour and energy after halftime.

The Wolves tried to keep up with the play and scored a goal.

Thereafter, the Bridges scored twice more to put the game to bed.

The win moved the Bridges up to sixth place on the MAFA log.

“I am glad the boys are starting to believe in themselves. This was the first win after three consecutive defeats. We can only improve,” said Motloung.

“We are proud of the performance despite trouble brewing in the boardroom. We assure our loyal supporters that we will come out stronger, and our legal team will ensure we get reinstated,” said Ignatius Maphike, the club chairperson.

“The Cambridge Football Club received an expulsion letter from the South African Football Association Ekurhuleni Regional League on April 29. Their legal team is attending to the matter. Meanwhile, the club remains positive that it will be reinstated in the Hollywood Bets Regional League,” concluded Maphike.
