6 injured after bakkie overturns on R23 in heavy rain

A bakkie overturned on the rain-drenched R23 between Shalimar Ridge and the HF Verwoerd Street off-ramp, leaving six people injured and prompting fresh warnings for motorists to drive cautiously in wet weather

Six people were injured after a bakkie overturned on the R23 during heavy rain on December 10.

The bakkie overturned on the wet road between Shalimar Ridge and the HF Verwoerd Street offramp, injuring all the occupants.

Emergency services, including ambulance crews, firefighters and traffic officials, were on the scene, working swiftly to help the injured, who were stabilised before being transported to a local hospital for further care.

Traffic on the R23 was affected while authorities worked to clear the scene.

Officials urge motorists to take extra precautions when travelling in rainy weather.

They warn that deteriorating road conditions combined with poor visibility and slippery surfaces significantly increase the likelihood of serious accidents.
