Three people were killed and another seriously injured in an accident on the R23 near Balfour on November 29.

According to a police statement, officers responded to a collision involving a Hino truck with a trailer and a VW Polo.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Polo was travelling towards Heidelberg, while the truck was headed towards Balfour.

Two women and one man, all occupants of the Polo, died at the scene.

A fourth occupant was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken in for questioning as investigations continue.
