The purpose of the engagement was to introduce the main contractor appointed to carry out the refurbishment project.
The mayor outlined the objectives and expectations for the next phase of the project, reiterating the importance of cooperation between the municipality, contractors, and the community.
“The contractor will still convene a meeting with the community to communicate job opportunities that will be available during the refurbishment process. These opportunities will include various skills such as bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, and other related trades, as well as guidance on how interested community members can apply, as this forms part of the contractor’s responsibilities,” he said.
Nkosi added that the engagement forms part of the municipality’s commitment to transparency, community involvement, and improving living conditions and economic prospects in the municipality.
