A night of fear unfolded on March 24 along the N3 between Heidelberg and Vosloorus as criminals allegedly used rocks to ambush motorists, causing multiple crashes, injuries and a robbery.
Motorists travelling along the N3 highway between Heidelberg and Vosloorus faced a terrifying ordeal on March 24 when criminals allegedly used rocks to stage ambushes, triggering multiple crashes and injuries.
The incidents occurred on both the northbound and southbound lanes, with motorists crashing into the obstructions.
At least two accidents were reported, leaving four people with moderate injuries.
The injured were treated on scene before being transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
In addition to the accidents, a further four vehicles were reportedly damaged in separate incidents along the same stretch of highway.

One motorist was also robbed by the suspects believed to be behind the attacks. Emergency services, including Heidelberg Volunteer Medics and SAPS, responded swiftly to the scenes.
Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution when travelling along the N3, particularly at night, and to avoid driving alone where possible.
The N3 has become a hotspot for such criminal activity, with perpetrators increasingly using dangerous tactics such as placing rocks and other objects on the road to ambush unsuspecting drivers.
Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests, and investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
