Water supply hit in Heidelberg as Hill reservoir leak under repair

Several high-lying areas in Heidelberg are experiencing water disruptions after a leak at the Hill Reservoir. Repairs are underway, but no completion time has been confirmed.

Water supply in several high-lying areas of Heidelberg has been affected following a leak at the Hill reservoir, prompting urgent repair work by municipal teams. In a statement released on April 8, the Lesedi Local Municipality confirmed that its technical team is repairing a leaking pipe that has contributed to a decline in water levels at the reservoir.

The Hill Reservoir is instrumental in supplying water to parts of the CBD, Jordan Park, Overkruin, Bergsig and Bergendal.

The municipality said it is unable to provide a confirmed timeframe for the completion of the repairs at this stage, but assured residents that updates will be issued as work progresses.

Residents in the affected areas have been urged to use water sparingly while repairs are underway. The municipality appealed for patience as efforts continue to restore the normal water supply.
