Emergency services respond to crash, medical emergency and shooting in Heidelberg

Emergency personnel and volunteers responded to three separate incidents across Heidelberg on May 18, including a vehicle accident on the Jordaan Park bridge, a medical emergency involving an elderly man and a shooting incident that left a man wounded.

Emergency services and volunteers responded to several incidents in Heidelberg on May 18, including a motor vehicle accident, a medical emergency and a shooting incident.

The first incident was when volunteers, together with Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG), were activated following a light motor vehicle accident on the Jordaan Park bridge.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision. No serious injuries were reported at the scene.

Later in the day, volunteers and emergency medical services responded to an incident involving an elderly man who had collapsed.

Emergency personnel treated the patient on scene before he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further medical care.

In a separate incident, volunteers and GPG were dispatched after a male patient sustained gunshot wounds to his lower back and leg.

The patient was stabilised at the scene before being transported by GPG to a specialised hospital for further treatment.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the cause of the incidents, and investigations are ongoing.
