Water monitoring and conservation testing underway in Lesedi until end of June
Residents may see municipal inspection teams visiting properties as Lesedi Local Municipality undertakes a water monitoring and conservation programme aimed at reducing leaks, curbing losses and improving water supply reliability.
Lesedi Local Municipality has launched a water monitoring and conservation testing programme aimed at improving water management, reducing water network losses, and enhancing the reliability of water supply across the municipality.
The programme, which commenced on June 9 and will continue until June 30, forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to address water-related challenges and improve service delivery to residents.
According to a public notice issued by the municipality, the testing initiative will focus on monitoring water consumption patterns, identifying leaks and illegal connections, detecting system losses and improving the efficiency of water distribution throughout the municipal area.
Municipal officials and appointed technical teams will conduct inspections in all wards within Lesedi.
During the process, authorised personnel may require access to selected residential properties to inspect water meters, pipelines and other related infrastructure.
Lesedi Local Municipality spokesperson Katleho Seaga said the initiative is intended to strengthen water management systems and help reduce supply interruptions.
“This programme forms part of the municipality’s ongoing commitment to improving water management and ensuring a more reliable water supply for our residents.
“Through these inspections and monitoring activities, we aim to identify leaks, reduce water losses, address illegal connections and improve the efficiency of our water distribution network. We appeal to residents to cooperate with our authorised teams as we work together to protect this valuable resource and improve service delivery across Lesedi,” he said.
Residents are encouraged to cooperate with officials by ensuring that water meter installations are easily accessible, allowing authorised personnel access to properties when necessary and reporting any visible leaks or water-related concerns during the inspection period.
The municipality has assured residents that all officials involved in the inspections will carry official identification and authorisation letters.
Lesedi Local Municipality thanked residents for their cooperation as efforts continue to improve water supply reliability and promote water conservation across the municipality.
