Heidelberg residents urged to prepare for two-hour planned power outage

Residents and businesses in Heidelberg are advised to prepare for a planned two-hour electricity interruption from 10:00 to 12:00 on July 14, as Lesedi Local Municipality carries out essential repair work at the Retief Substation.

Lesedi Local Municipality has advised residents and businesses in Heidelberg to prepare for a planned electricity interruption on July 14, as essential maintenance work is carried out on the local power network.

The scheduled outage will take place from 10:00 to 12:00 to allow the municipality’s Central Power Maintenance Team to undertake major repair work at the Retief Substation.

According to the municipality, the maintenance forms part of efforts to ensure the reliability and continued operation of the electricity infrastructure.

A complete shutdown of the electricity supply will be required to enable technicians to carry out the repairs safely.

Residents and business owners have been urged to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the planned interruption to minimize any inconvenience.

The municipality also cautioned residents to treat all electrical outlets and appliances as live throughout the outage period, as electricity may be restored without prior notice once the maintenance has been completed.

Lesedi Local Municipality apologized for the inconvenience caused and thanked residents for their patience and co-operation while the essential work is undertaken.

For further information, residents can contact the Lesedi Customer Care Service Centre on 016 466 1901.
