Children from across the Nigel community spent three days growing in their faith during the town’s first interdenominational Afrikaans holiday bible school, held from July 13 to 15 at the Dutch Reformed Church Nigel East in Visagie Park.

The free programme, aimed at primary school learners, brought together children from various parts of the community to learn more about the Bible in a fun, interactive and engaging environment.

Through Bible lessons, praise and worship, games, arts and crafts, and team-building activities, participants were encouraged to strengthen their faith while building lasting friendships.

The Holiday Bible School was led by youth missionaries Heindrich and Anel van der Berg, whose passion for children’s ministry created an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere throughout the three-day programme.

They were supported by dedicated volunteers from several local churches and Christian organisations, whose commitment and teamwork played a key role in the success of the inaugural event.

The Holiday Bible School highlighted the importance of churches working together to invest in the spiritual growth of children.

The organisers said the cooperation between different congregations reflected a strong spirit of Christian unity within the Nigel community.

The event received an overwhelmingly positive response from children, parents and volunteers, prompting discussions about making the Afrikaans Holiday Bible School an annual initiative in Nigel.
