Heidelberg Hospice is inviting residents to support a weekend of entertainment, family fun and community spirit at its Arts and Culture Market Fundraiser, taking place this month.

The fundraising event will begin on August 28, with Heidelberg’s Got Talent, offering aspiring singers and acoustic musicians the opportunity to showcase their talents.

Participation is free, with the top 15 entrants earning a place in the evening performance, which starts at 18:00. Vaughan van Zyl will host the talent show, while Giovanni Devito and Rikie Borman will serve as judges.

Tickets for spectators are R50 for children and R100 for adults. Grazing boxes are available at R60 and must be pre-booked through the Heidelberg Hospice office.

The festivities continue on August 29, with gates opening at 09:00.

Visitors can look forward to more than 40 market stalls, a variety of delicious food, traditional boeresport, face painting and numerous activities for children.

The programme also includes a 09:45 Fun Walk with Granny and Granddad, an art lesson presented by Veronica Olivier, 15-minute drumming sessions for all ages, guided historical tours of Heidelberg by bus or on foot, Volkspele performances, and the announcement of the winners of the art competition.

Entry forms for the art competition are available on request.

Visitors will also have the chance to enter a R20 raffle, with a prize valued at R3,000 up for grabs.

Rugby supporters can test their knowledge by guessing the final score of the Springboks vs All Blacks match. Pre-booked braai packs will be available, allowing families to enjoy the game on a big screen before celebrating with live entertainment by Giovanni Devito.
