SAPS officers unite over potjie at provincial cooking competition
SAPS officers from across the province put their cooking skills to the test at the annual Potjie Kos competition hosted by Springs SAPS.
Nigel SAPS members played a role in the winning team at this year’s provincial Potjie Kos competition, hosted by Springs SAPS on August 7.
The team, known as Swaziland, took top honours after impressing the judges with their potjie. The winning group brought together members from Kwa-Thema, Tsakane, Dunnottar, Dawn Park, Devon, Duduza and Nigel police stations.
Captain Gregory Burrows from Brakpan SAPS said his team enjoyed the opportunity to cook together and strengthen their bond.
“We enjoyed the experience, it was lovely getting to cook together. Every person plays a big part and that’s what makes a great squad,” he said.
Burrows congratulated the winners, adding that the main objective of the day was to promote unity among SAPS members.
“Well done to the winners. At the end of the day, it wasn’t just about winning but about being together and becoming one,” he said.
“It’s not just a cooking competition, but a day that allows you to challenge yourself while learning from others.”
Members enjoyed a day filled with good food, conversation and teamwork, highlighting the importance of unity and camaraderie within the police service.
