Women in health sector tackle wellness, financial security and GBV

Women in the health sector gathered at Birchwood Hotel on August 28 for a Women’s Day event focused on health and wellness, financial well-being and the fight against gender-based violence.

Issues affecting women’s health, financial well-being and safety were at the forefront of a Women’s Day event held at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on August 28.

The event, hosted by the Employee Wellness Programme, brought together women from the health sector to discuss challenges facing women and explore ways to promote healthier and safer communities.

Key discussions centred on maintaining health and wellness, strengthening financial wellness and addressing gender-based violence, which remains a serious concern in South African communities.

The programme also recognised individuals who have contributed to raising awareness and facilitating conversations on issues affecting women.

Among the guest speakers was Thembi Twala from Heidelberg Hospital, who received a certificate of recognition for her role in leading engagements focused on gender-based violence.

Her recognition acknowledged her efforts to encourage dialogue and raise awareness about GBV, particularly within communities where women and other vulnerable groups continue to face violence and abuse.
