Heidelberg SAPS reaches 200 residents in taxi rank safety awareness drive

Heidelberg SAPS stepped up community engagement with a safety awareness operation at the Heidelberg Taxi Rank, reaching around 200 people and distributing approximately 200 crime-prevention pamphlets.

Heidelberg SAPS conducted a community safety awareness operation at the Heidelberg Taxi Rank on September 1, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen crime prevention and raise public awareness.

The operation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Muzikayise Joseph Nkabinde, with Constable Doris Nkosi serving as the operational commander.

The initiative was part of the Social Crime Prevention and sector commanders’ operations, focusing on direct engagement with the community in Heidelberg Sector 2.

Two SAPS members, supported by one vehicle, were deployed to the taxi rank. The operation also included seven members from Siyabangena and school patrollers, who assisted with the community outreach activities.

During the operation, approximately 200 safety awareness pamphlets were distributed to commuters and members of the public at the taxi rank. Police estimated that about 200 people were reached through the campaign.
