Cable fault leaves parts of Heidelberg without power
Municipal technical teams face weather delays as they work to locate and repair feeder line damage affecting several areas.
Several areas of Heidelberg remain without electricity after a fault was confirmed on feeder cables between the Retief Substation and 2nd Avenue.
The municipality said on September 7 that the feeder cables failed electrical tests, indicating a network fault on this section.
Technical teams were on site conducting further tests to pinpoint the exact fault location.
However, ongoing rain has hampered the investigation, and work has been suspended intermittently to ensure personnel safety.
A cable-jointing team is also on site and will begin repairs once it locates the fault.
The affected areas are Kloof, R42 Plots, Reservoir, Bergendal, Overkruin and Jordaan Park.
According to the municipality, it will issue a further update once the fault is located and the extent of required repairs is established.
The municipality appealed for patience while technical teams work to restore electricity safely.
