Heidelberg weighbridge staff hold candlelight vigil for women killed in Ekurhuleni
Staff at the Heidelberg weighbridge, joined by Gauteng Traffic officers and Community Safety officials, gathered for prayer and a candlelight vigil on September 18 to honour women who have lost their lives to gender-based violence.
Staff at the Heidelberg weighbridge gathered on September 18 for a prayer service and candlelight vigil in remembrance of local women who lost their lives over the past two months.
The gathering brought together weighbridge staff, Gauteng Traffic Control Centre traffic officers and community safety department members.

The vigil formed part of efforts to honour women who have died, including victims of gender-based violence.
Those attending were encouraged to wear an item of black clothing as a symbol of mourning and remembrance.

During the gathering, attendees joined in prayer and reflection as candles were lit in memory of the victims.
The event also provided an opportunity for members of the different departments to stand together in solidarity against violence against women and to raise awareness of the continued impact of gender-based violence on families and communities.
