NOTICE OF A WATER USE LICENCE APPLICATION FOR THE PROPOSED USE OF BOREHOLES WITHIN THE PROPERTY OF NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED (ISANDO SNACKWORKS FACTORY), LOCATED ON ERF 514 ISANDO, CITY OF EKURHULENI METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG PROVINCE Notice issued in terms of the National Water Act 36 of 1998 (NWA); and the Water Use Licence Application and Appeals Regulations, 2017
National Brands Limited (“National Brands”) is applying for authorisation to utilise the boreholes located within its Coffee & Creamer Factory situated at 19 Industrie Road, Isando (“the Site”). The Site is located within the jurisdiction of the City Of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, approximately 1km west of O. R. Tambo International Airport, in Isando. Application for a water use licence is required before the water use activity may commence on the Site.
National Brands intends to submit a Water Use Licence Application (WULA) to the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) for water uses as specified in section 21 of the NWA.
This water use is: *Section 21 (a) Taking water from a water resource (groundwater).
Interested and affected parties (“I&APs”) will be notified of further details of the WULA once an application has been submitted to DWS.
National Brands has appointed Geocon Consulting (Pty) Ltd, an independent geohydrological consulting firm, to undertake the Water Use Licence Application process.
INVITATION TO REGISTER AS AN I&AP AND TO COMMENT I&APs are invited to register as stakeholders and comment on the Hydrogeological Assessment Report which is available for public review and comment for a period of 60 days from the date of publication. Electronic copies of the Report is available from the people listed below.
