Two arrested with gun, knife and cable ties

Arrests made on the N3.

Heidelberg Vispol commander Lt-Col Muzikayise Nkabinde and Capt Paul Mofokeng are sticking to their promise to rid Heidelberg and surrounding areas of criminals.

On March 9, the officers were patrolling the N3 when, just after the Jacobs Road turn-off, they noticed two males hitchhiking.

The SAPS members stopped and confronted the hitchhikers, asking if they know that hitchhiking is illegal and punishable by law.

The officers then asked to search them and were granted permission.

During the search, an unlicensed firearm, a knife and cable ties were discovered. The pair were immediately arrested.

They are being detained at Heidelberg SAPS and will appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Further investigations will be conducted. The men are foreign nationals.
