Disgruntled municipal workers take to the streets

Msukaligwa municipal workers are dissatisfied with adverse working conditions.

News just in:

Disgruntled workers at Msukaligwa Local Municipality and SAMWU members again took to the streets of Ermelo this morning to voice their disatisfaction at conditions Msukaligwa municipal workers on ground level have to work under.

Some of the grievances put forward include lack of progress with the Task Grading issue, lack of safety equipment and personal protection equipment, lack of tools to perform maintenance tasks and staff shortages.

Trash cans were overturned by the striking workers and garbage was strewn on pavements and in the streets.

The workers marched to the Msukaligwa Civic centre where trash was strewn in the parking lot and a tyre was set alight and left to burn itself out.

No damage to property was caused.
