The Reclaiming Ermelo Forum attempted to clean an illegal dumpsite in Wesselton recently, but a group alleged to be members of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL), hindered them.

Forum members converged in Ward 4 Ext 2, near the old graveyard, to implement one of their resolutions of clearing dumpsites.

The group believed to be from Ward 4, accompanied by Community Work Programme (CWP) workers, was allegedly sent by the ward councillor in the area, and chased them away.

The forum’s members came in numbers to clear the dumpsite.

They have recently come under fire with members facing intimidation after pointing out service delivery issues in Msukaligwa.
